Just Because...

So yes, follow up to the previous journal... 2 Art Shows went pretty well. I sold a painting in the second one, Cliffhangers spudsy2.deviantart.com/art/Cli…) (From The Easel - www.fromtheeasel.ca )... woo hoo! It was a surprise because the original scheduled date happened to be the same weekend that all the flooding was happening in Calgary so it was postponed. Consequently we didn't get nearly the number of people to visit the show (aftermath of flooding and last minute advertising the new date). Still, it was a nice show with lots of impressive art displayed.

My figure drawing sessions are coming to a close for the summer. Tomorrow is the last one. They are doing two 1 hour poses, which is my least favorite pose. I like the shorter ones... up to maybe 1/2 hour. any more and i start thinking too much i'll will go and try anyway and taking my acrylics. The last time i tried this was a disaster, so naturally i have to try again and hopefully learn from previous mistakes. I still have drawings from several sessions over the last few weeks. things got scrambled with the sessions, again because of the flooding here and the long weekend following. I will get the last of the sessions for the year posted soon.

I have decided to continue art classes through the summer with a different instructor. I thought i would try some things i wouldn't normally do. I'm really not satisfied doing realistic work any longer and want to try something new, but I have no idea what! I guess i'm having an artistic crisis ha ha, or maybe just looking for my own style! Anyway, when the experiments start working, maybe I'll post them here... or maybe in scraps so you can learn what NOT to do!

oh yes... a couple of other things to mention...

thank you to all my watchers that consistently comment and fave my work. It is truly appreciated and help keep me going. An artist isn't much of an artist if no one sees his/her work. So you all make me the artist i want to be

i'm going to try to spew my thoughts here a little more in a journal entry once in a while. if you like it or hate it, please let me know and send me a comment. i don't want to be talking to thin air. I want to engage with some of you, not just talk at you
